FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Mountain Counties Water Resources Association
Welcomes ACWA Joint Powers Insurance Authority to Membership

MOUNTAIN COUNTIES, Calif. (AUGUST 20, 2024) – The Mountain Counties Water Resources Association (MCWRA) is proud to announce that the Association of California Water Agencies Joint Powers Insurance Authority (ACWA JPIA) has joined its Associate Membership. Formed in 1979, ACWA JPIA is a partnership of water agencies dedicated to avoiding the high cost of commercial insurance through a risk-sharing pool or property, liability, workers’ compensation, and employee benefits.

ACWA JPIA is pleased to become an Associate Member of the MCWRA,” said Adrienne Beatty, ACWA JPIA Chief Executive Officer. “A significant number of JPIA members reside in MCWRA’s geographic reach and we believe MCWRA’s mission and strategic initiatives help support our members’ operations and risk management needs and the services and resources JPIA provides to those same members.”

In addition to insurance services, ACWA JPIA offers a wide variety of training opportunities to its members, and develops water industry leaders through their Leadership Development Program for General Managers and senior staff. Additional details about ACWA JPIA can be accessed here.

We are thrilled to have ACWA JPIA join our ranks as we advance our efforts to be the premiere advocate to influence water policy and protection of the Sierra Nevada watershed,” said Justin Caporusso, MCWRA Executive Director.

MCWRA serves a total of 48 Executive, Affiliate, and Associate Members across 12 of California’s mountain counties, including Alpine, Amador, Calaveras, El Dorado, Mariposa, Mono, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Sierra, Tuolumne, and Yuba Counties.

Mountain Counties Water Resources Association Mission is to promote the statewide importance of Sierra Nevada water resources through advocacy and collaboration.  This Mission is realized through strengthening Members’ regional leadership, collaboration, information sharing, issue awareness, education, advocacy, and potential legislative action or legal support.
